The Role

We’re seeking a Staff Software Engineer with deep expertise in React Native and mobile application development, coupled with strong leadership and mentoring skills. In this role, you’ll lead technical direction for our mobile initiatives, mentor engineers, and partner cross-functionally to scale and modernize Lark’s app. This is a high-impact role ideal for someone who is passionate about quality, collaboration, and shaping the future of mobile health.

What You’ll Do

Technical Leadership & Strategy

  • Set the technical vision for our React Native codebase, championing architectural improvements and scalability.

  • Lead design sessions, code reviews, and architectural discussions to elevate engineering standards across the team.

  • Own and modernize key components of the mobile platform with performance, accessibility, and security in mind.

  • Drive quality with near 100% test coverage, CI/CD best practices, and a relentless focus on reliability.

Team Collaboration & Mentorship

  • Act as a role model and mentor to other engineers, providing technical guidance and career development support.

  • Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and other engineering teams to scope, build, and ship impactful features.

  • Help refine engineering processes, improve team velocity, and reduce tech debt

  • Write and maintain documentation that enables efficient onboarding and consistent best practices.

Hands-On Engineering

  • Build, refactor, and scale our core mobile application using React Native and TypeScript.

  • Contribute to backend systems and APIs (NodeJS or Go) as needed to support mobile functionality.

  • Champion performance monitoring, observability, and error tracking using tools like Datadog

  • Ensure security and privacy standards are upheld, including zero trust principles and secure authentication.

What You’ll Need

  • Expertise in React Native and TypeScript, with a proven track record of building scalable mobile apps.

  • Experience modernizing and extending legacy code while preserving existing functionality and minimizing risk.

  • Experience with at least one native mobile platform (iOS or Android).

  • Strong understanding of automated testing frameworks and E2E testing practices.

  • Familiarity with backend technologies including NodeJS or Go.

  • Demonstrated success mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives across teams.

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across disciplines.

  • MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
