**We're open for this role to be based anywhere in NZ (Wellington preferred), or otherwise within Australia. US applicants may also be considered**

We're hiring a Chief Commercial Officer to build and scale one of the most strategically important revenue engines in defence tech.

Starboard Maritime Intelligence fuses satellite imagery, vessel tracking data, radar and other sensor inputs with AI to deliver real-time maritime intelligence - protecting subsea cables, detecting illegal fishing, monitoring sanctions evasion (and more!).

We're helping governments, defence agencies and infrastructure operators detect suspicious behaviour at sea and act before incidents escalate.

Founded in New Zealand and now operating globally, Starboard's technology is already trusted by organisations across 30+ countries, safeguarding over 840,000 km of subsea cable infrastructure.

About the role

Reporting directly to the CEO, this CCO hire is about one thing: building and leading a world-class revenue engine capable of winning and expanding large, strategic Defence and Critical Maritime Infrastructure (CMI) accounts across FVEY markets.

You will:

  • Own global revenue strategy and execution - accountable for pipeline, growth and forecast accuracy
  • Win and expand large Defence and CMI accounts across Five Eyes markets
  • Build and lead a high-performing global enterprise sales organisation
  • Increase deal size, conversion rates and sales velocity across complex enterprise and government deals
  • Establish disciplined pipeline management, forecasting and sales processes
  • Develop repeatable GTM playbooks to land and expand strategic accounts globally
  • Represent Starboard with credibility across government stakeholders, defence primes and strategic partners

What we're looking for

  • Proven revenue leader who has scaled complex B2B SaaS enterprise businesses (ideally up to $40M+ ARR)
  • Builder mindset - capable of building structured, repeatable sales systems and global GTM strategy
  • Experience managing pipelines of both short cycle enterprise and long, high-value, relationship-led procurement cycles
  • Experience leading distributed teams across multiple regions

Nice to have

  • Experience selling into defence/national security/critical infrastructure sectors, and/or US or FVEY environments
  • Experience in dual-use technology, ISR, geospatial, or infrastructure monitoring
  • Experience transitioning from founder-led sales to institutional sales leadership
  • Exposure to account-based enterprise sales models
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled sales intelligence tools
