This role will be an initial 6 month contract with opportunity to extend

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced contractor to join our team as Senior Front End Engineer to work alongside our Head of Product, Head of Music, Product Designer and team of full stack engineers and musicians. You will have the opportunity to work with technology that involves exciting and challenging problems to solve alongside talented individuals passionate about music and technology. Our preference is Brisbane based but we are open to hiring remotely in Australia as well as US West Coast. Please note, if you are based in the US you will be working with colleagues on Australian timezone (potentially not a good fit for people who prefer early morning work or anyone based on the East Coast!).

Responsibilities:

• Contribute to our existing music products by prototyping, developing and refining new features based on team and user feedback.
• Collaborate and work closely with our Senior Designer and the Product Lead to create exceptional experiences for our users ensuring the web app is responsive and scales properly
• Keep in mind how different features will perform on different devices and make recommendations on the potential success and challenges of technical feasibility (our audience is primarily Gen Z visiting our app on a range of devices)
• Front End focused first and foremost but willingness and ability to look at our database (our small team of engineers have Full Stack capabilities and this is an attribute we look for when hiring)
• General troubleshooting with technical aspects and maintaining code.

Requirements:

• 6+ years Javascript programming and frameworks, experience with NextJS is a must. Experience with other frameworks - React, Typescript - as well as experience using Firebase all highly desirable
• Strong portfolio of products, having shipped multiple consumer, B2C, D2C software/digital products
• Experience with modern development practices including continuous integration, continuous delivery, version control and testing
• Experience working with designers who use Figma highly desirable (other design tools are ok as well Adobe XD)
• Organised with an ability to deliver tasks within tight deadlines
• Can take feedback well, and understands that changes in product direction will happen regularly - we practice direct feedback, failing fast and adapting our product quickly
• Persistent self-motivation, initiative, and drive and the ability to work remotely
• Passion for music
• General knowledge of AI tools and advocate for great tools in this space

Nice to Have:

• Background in music production or interest in electronic music
• General understanding of gaming and gamification of products
