Who we are

Metropolis creates artificial intelligence that makes real-world physical spaces responsive. We are developing an intelligence layer for physical infrastructure that powers frictionless, precognitive and personalized experiences everywhere. By recognizing people and context, our platform makes the real world feel intuitive, responsive and magical. Today, as the largest parking operator in the U.S., our industry-leading Computer Vision technology powers checkout-free drive-in, drive-out parking that is smarter, faster and frictionless. Tomorrow, we will continue reimagining how we live our lives by making everyday experiences magically seamless and giving you back your most valuable asset, time.

Who you are

Metropolis is seeking a Manager to lead our Central Cloud Infrastructure team in India. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Central Cloud Infrastructure, you will take the helm of a tight-knit, high-performing team of three engineers, guiding the pivotal engineering group that governs cloud usage, manages foundational elements of the cloud, develops shared tooling, supports other teams through consultancy, and ensures the cloud is secure and compliant with PCI and SOC2 requirements. You are a key engineering leader with a holistic perspective on Metropolis's cloud ecosystem who will provide technical and cross-team leadership to manage core infrastructure utilizing AWS, Terraform, and Kubernetes/EKS, modernize existing platforms, and architect solutions that smoothly bridge established products with our next-generation cloud ecosystem to increase velocity and maintain long-term cloud health.

What you'll do

  • Direct, mentor and foster the growth of a dedicated team of three cloud infrastructure engineers based in India
  • Facilitate the further development by team members of overall team strategy and scope for various timeframes and directly contribute to that planning
  • Guide the strategic modernization of existing infrastructure and oversee the integration of diverse legacy systems into our unified cloud architecture
  • Support the tactical coordination of work streams and prioritization of items within those streams across team members based on technical dependencies, business urgency and other considerations
  • Ensure talent development by identifying opportunities for and supporting team members' participation in technical and leadership growth opportunities
  • Foster a collaborative atmosphere that delivers business value at an increasing velocity
  • Maximize the utility of engineering deliverables like code and documentation by promoting their socialization, identifying opportunities for further value extraction and enabling reusability
  • Aid CCI team members by providing timely and relevant knowledge of the priorities and plans of other teams by maintaining informative communications and collaborative relations across the globally distributed company
  • Help broadcast the goals, activities and requirements of the team and provide meaningful measures of success and progress to upper management
  • Act as a stakeholder for the cloud and related systems with a vision for the long term health, performance, efficiency and utility of these resources
  • Participate in an on call system to handle high urgency issues
  • Experience leveraging AI tools to transform static workflows into responsive, high-output processes

What we're looking for

  • BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science or a relevant engineering discipline
  • 5 to 8 years of engineering experience with at least 1 to 2+ years of experience leading and managing cloud infrastructure, DevOps or SRE teams
  • Experience as a hands on senior or lead engineer before transitioning into managing teams
  • Demonstrate an inter and intra team facilitator mindset while recognizing the technical and organizational leadership role possible of a central cloud infrastructure team
  • Maintain a strong hands on background managing, architecting and troubleshooting both Linux and Windows systems
  • Utilize technical experience with AWS, Terraform, Atmos, Kubernetes/EKS, Helm, containerization, Kafka, SQL databases, cloud networking and Python
  • Drive infrastructure modernization efforts and architecting the integration of established systems into modern cloud native environments
  • Manage and meet strict security and compliance requirements for cloud environments, specifically PCI and SOC2
  • Craft disaster recovery plans and architecting technical solutions
  • Deliver a track record of successfully developing cloud infrastructure that meets product requirements
  • Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences

While not required, these are a plus

  • Work previous experience inside innovative, high growth environments
