We are seeking a highly experienced Tableau Administrator with 5-10 years of expertise to manage and optimize our Tableau Server infrastructure. The ideal candidate will ensure the seamless operation of Tableau environments, provide high-level technical support, and drive performance optimization across the platform. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage security protocols, and ensure Tableau aligns with organizational data governance policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee installation, configuration, and maintenance of Tableau Server environments (development, staging, and production).
  • Manage user roles, permissions, and security to ensure data governance and compliance with internal policies.
  • Ensure uptime, high availability, and disaster recovery of Tableau Server through clustering, load balancing, and regular monitoring.
  • Proactively monitor server performance and system metrics to ensure optimum Tableau Server functionality.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve server-related issues, optimizing performance for large-scale data visualizations.
  • Provide advanced support for Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server, and Tableau Prep users.
  • Handle escalations for performance issues related to Tableau reports, dashboards, and the server.
  • Collaborate with database administrators to optimize data connections and resource utilization in Tableau visualizations.
  • Implement security best practices, manage access controls, and ensure data privacy within Tableau Server.
  • Manage version control, apply software patches and upgrades, and ensure the Tableau Server is up-to-date.
  • Ensure backup and disaster recovery plans are in place and tested routinely.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of experience administering Tableau Server and Tableau Desktop environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of Tableau architecture, Tableau Server clustering, and system architecture.
  • Experience in performance tuning and optimizing Tableau dashboards for large datasets.
  • Strong understanding of database systems (MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle) and data integration with Tableau.
  • An understanding of data warehouse and datalake solutions (Amazon redshift, Snowflake etc) is an added advantage.
  • Expertise in managing security, user roles, and data governance compliance.
  • Experience with scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash) for automation and maintenance.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, focusing on root cause analysis and performance optimization.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS is preferred, and AWS Cloud Certification is a plus.
  • Tableau Server or Desktop Professional certification.

The actual base salary offered is determined by a number of variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, years of relevant experience, distinctive skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location of residence and/or place of employment. Base salary is one component of Metropolis’s total compensation package, which may also include access to or eligibility for healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a lucrative stock option plan, bonus plans and more.
