About Splash

At Splash, we're pioneering the intersection of artificial intelligence and music. Since 2017, our mission has been to democratise music creation, making it accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

We’ve made significant strides in connecting artists and fans, particularly through our innovative experiences on Roblox, which have captivated millions of young users. By leveraging the power of AI, we're reshaping the way people interact with and create music.

With support from renowned investors such as Amazon's Alexa Fund and Khosla Ventures, Splash is on a path of rapid growth. We're expanding our diverse team of talented musicians, engineers, and creatives who share our passion for pushing the boundaries of what's possible in music and AI.

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced contractor to join our team as Lead UX/UI professional. In this role, you will work closely with our CTO, Head of Music and Front-end Developer to design and implement engaging user experiences for our web based, AI-driven music tools. You will be responsible for developing UX flows for MVP prototypes and translating designs into functional interfaces that bring our music visions to life. This role will be an initial 3 month contract with opportunity to extend. Please note, our team is global, remote-first; you will be working with colleagues on Australian timezone (potentially not a good fit for people who prefer early morning work or anyone based on the East Coast).

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a small team of Product, Music and Engineering professionals to design and implement UX flows and interfaces for our greenfield AI-driven music tools
  • Create rapid prototypes for demos and iterate as you develop from MVP to scalable product
  • Develop and maintain a cohesive visual design that aligns with our brand and products across gaming and music
  • Work directly with our front-end developer to ensure seamless integration of UI elements and functionality
  • Provide feedback and ideas to current design briefs, work with the Head of Product to refine and optimise UX flow
  • Conduct usability testing and gather feedback to continuously improve the user interface
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in UX/UI design and incorporate them into our products, particularly as they relate to AI tools in market
  • Provide consistent support and guidance to enhance the team's design and development skills

Requirements:

  • 7+ years experience in UX/UI Design, developing digital products within a startup or high-growth environment
  • Strong portfolio showcasing your D2C and B2C product design and development skills, including rapid prototypes and user flows
  • Approach product development with a goal of delivering a clean, simple MVP as early as possible and then improving with iterative changes
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, or Adobe XD (we use Figma)
  • General understanding of front-end technologies like HTML and CSS
  • A passion for solving complicated problems and learning new skills
  • High attention to detail, ensuring consistency in MVP designs that make for easy design scale and collaboration
  • Can take feedback well, and understands that changes in product direction will happen regularly - we practise direct feedback, failing fast and adapting our product quickly
  • Passion for music
  • General knowledge of AI tools and advocate for great tools in this space

Nice to Have:

  • Background in music production or interest in electronic music
  • General understanding of gaming and gamification of products

What to Expect:

  • Your opportunity to make your mark in an early-stage startup, acting as an integral part of the visionary team, shaping the technology and products we bring to market
  • Be part of a talented and dynamic team that values initiative and imagination.
  • Our team is remote-first; you will be working with colleagues on Australian timezone
  • Join a company backed by leading investors, including Amazon’s Alexa Fund, Khosla Ventures, BITKRAFT Ventures, and King River Capital.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion:

Music has the incredible ability to bridge divides and bring people together, regardless of their background or identity. Like the industry we work within, diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered. We actively seek out and welcome voices from all backgrounds and believe that diverse perspectives fuel our creativity and drive success.
