The Role:

We are hiring a Lead ML Researcher to work alongside our CTO, Head of Music and team of ML Engineers. The team brings together cutting edge research on speech synthesis and generative modelling to create powerful tools for young creators and music enthusiasts. Please note, our team is global, remote-first; you will be working with colleagues on Australian timezone (not a good fit for people who prefer early morning work).

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement generative Machine Learning algorithms that can solve various business problems, relating to the intersection of music and gaming, across language model techniques and diffusion-based approaches.
  • Take the lead in researching state-of-the-art, and continue to stay on the forefront of generative AI in the audio space, including reading papers and evaluating open-source projects.
  • Assist in building data preparation and training pipelines used to train models.
  • Understand the requirements of running models in production, including domain shift testing, QA, A/B testing and so on.
  • Understand the ethical considerations and ensure responsible AI practices.

About You:

  • Knowledge of music theory
  • Preprocessing and modelling skills with unstructured data (music, audio or speech)
  • Degree in computer science, mathematics, electronic engineer or equivalent experience
  • Experience with model training using python libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Matlab, or Keras.
  • Experience with cloud computing such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Ability to work on both open-ended research problems and production-ready API code.
  • Ability to work autonomously when required, and to take initiative with new research activities.
  • Proactive nature, ability to creatively solve problems you face and bring new ideas to the team.
  • Sound mathematical skills
  • Strong writing and verbal communication
  • An enthusiasm for music and artificial intelligence.

Desirable:

  • Experience in cloud computing e.g. AWS and GCP
