The Role
Reporting to SVP, Engineering, the Director, Data will oversee the data team (Data Science and Data Reporting Operations), leading the development and implementation of critical reporting products, advanced analytics, machine learning models, and data-driven strategies. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong technical background and excellent leadership skills to transform complex data into actionable insights that inform business decisions. You will cultivate the talents of the data team and other data professionals to ensure that our data modeling and analytical work meet our internal and external customer needs. This requires implementing a comprehensive data strategy that provides the appropriate use of data across the organization and aligns with the company's goals and vision. What You’ll Do
Lead, mentor, and develop the data team, ensuring high performance and continuous growth
Develop and execute a strategic vision for the data function, aligning with overall business objectives
Promote a culture that values data-driven decision-making across the organization
Collaborate with senior leadership to identify and prioritize data projects and initiatives, and gaps in data needs
Partnering with the data engineering platform team to iteratively refine the data product that Lark provides to both internal and external customers
Build a culture of best practices in data methodologies, tools, and techniques and ensure their application
Drive the development of predictive and prescriptive analytics to support decision-making, and present innovative ideas to leadership and peers
Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the effectiveness and impact of data initiatives
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, clinical, product, marketing, and account management, to integrate data solutions into business processes
Present complex data insights and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders (internal and external) in a clear and concise manner
Stay abreast of the latest industry trends, technologies, and advancements in big-data healthcare applications
What You’ll Need
Experience as a people manager, leading and coaching a multidisciplinary team of analysts, data scientists, or other data professionals with varying levels of expertise
Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering data projects
Experience working with regulated industry data, particularly health care (PHI/PII/HIPAA) and/or human subjects, real-world behavioral data
Experience in machine learning, statistical analysis, and predictive modeling
Experience working with data engineering platform teams on data management, including data collection, processing, storage, and quality assurance
Knowledge of databases, data warehouses, and data lakes
Strategic thinker who can identify how data science can support business goals
Effective at weighing different priorities and triaging against business goals, team capacity to make effective roadmap decisions
Experience working with a wide range of stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, executive leadership, and external partners, upstream and downstream internal teams
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience
Experience managing multiple teams
Familiarity with AI advancements, particularly in LLMs
Past experience working in programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, Scala, or similar. Mostly to be an effective mentor and participant in code reviews
Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Snowflake, or similar)
Experience supporting Pharmacy Benefit Managers and their partner organizations
